Salesforce in the News

Cloud-computing leader, Salesforce.com, announced today that a definitive agreement has been reached to acquire Radian6, a social media monitoring platform. Radian6’s customer list includes names like Pepsico, UPS, Dell, and more. The company’s unique technology will bring social intelligence to all of Salesforce.com’s cloud products and Benioff is quoted as saying that the acquisition is expected to accelerate their growth.

Radian6 CEO, Marcel LeBrun of Radian6 is quoted as saying, “Joining the salesforce.com team will allow Radian6 to grow faster to meet the demands of our rapidly expanding customer base.” He also says, “Social media has made every business recognize the value of paying attention to the voice of the customer. Radian6’s technology is built for the new norm of customer engagement - real time, two way conversations that includes social channels,”

Salesforce.com continues to position themselves on the cutting edge of cloud computing, bridging technologies to best serve customers. Salesforce introduced us to Chatter as a private social network for the workplace and now, with Radian6 involved, will we be looking at realtime updated from Twitter, Facebook, blogs, etc.?

The Salesforce press release does have a specific word to Force.com developers. Here the quote. "Developers will be able to build apps that tap into the power of Radian6, putting the social web into everything they build. In such a dynamic market, this acquisition will present a huge opportunity for salesforce.com to extend its developer and partner ecosystem with technology not available anywhere else."

There must be a webinar in our future…

On a conference call, Benioff said:

"Our customers are asking us for a way to capture these conversations and tightly integrate them with Salesforce.com products and services and we believe that today’s announcement is going to do just that and more. And with the combination of Salesforce and Radian6 the companies going to be able to bring the heart of the public social Web directly into their business. You’re going to see, as I’ve mentioned, for these sales and service cloud customers that we have the ability for us to quickly extend the value of their deployments by providing this actionable social intelligence. And we’ve seen it with our customers already where they’re receiving these feeds from Radian6 and they want to immediately act on them right inside our offerings."

More to come on this topic, no doubt. Stay tuned.
